Has anyone heard anything about the Resident Evil 3DS game Digital Rights Management? Someone I know was talking about it as if it was the worst thing ever and I was wondering if he was talking bullshit (which he has a wont to do).
What he said was that EA etc is trying to crack down on second hand sales. So, in Mercenaries there is one save slot and no way to start a new game even in that one save slot. The idea is that only whoever buys the game first can play it, and anyone else can go fuck themselves. He also said that more games in the future are likely to be like this.
Never mind that the person who bought it may want to start a new game again, especially if it has been a while and they've forgotten whats going on, or they made a mistake or decision they regret. Or that this stops people sharing the game like a lot of people want to. I know I'd love to be able to have multiple save files during Pokemon for example.
Actually, thats a good example. Imagine if in Pokemon you can only start a new game once ever, with an additional chance after you beat the Elite Four and the champion. It would stop people farming for starter pokemon and stop secondhand sales, but it would fuck up the game so much.
This is the only thing I've heard of it so it may not be as bad as he was saying, but if it is then this is terrible. The campaign of free addons for the first buyer I'm fine with, but something that screws over the original purchaser is just fucked up.

Any game company which does that single save file, will get their buttocks sawn off by the reviewers and general public. Any game which does that is probably going to find itself boycotted.Parthenon wrote:Has anyone heard anything about the Resident Evil 3DS game Digital Rights Management? He jumps like a damned dragoon, and charges into battle fighting rather insane monsters with little more than his bare hands and rather nasty spell effects conjured up solely through knowledge and the local plantlife. He unerringly knows where his goal lies, he breathes underwater and is untroubled by space travel, seems to have no limits to his actual endurance and favors killing his enemies by driving both boots square into their skull. His agility is unmatched, and his strength legendary, able to fling about a turtle shell big enough to contain a man with enough force to barrel down a near endless path of unfortunates.

I got Portal two. It was amazingly fun until after
At which point everything anyone ever liked about it was replaced by "Hunt the non-portalproof wall" until the introduction of repulsion gel alieviated that and SAXTON HALE Cave Johnson started narrating. It did, however, remain incredibly difficult to tell where you could place a portal and even where to go next, and finally I got motion sickness and quit for the day.

Been playing more Duke Nukem Forever. I feel like I'm getting better, and am progressing pretty well. I agree with Yahtzee when he commented on...
The Hive. My god, the Hive. I was not expecting that at all. Having to shoot the crying nude women before they exploded into walking penis monsters was WAY more horrific than what I was expecting.

Update: Re-downloaded Baldur's Gate, but the same problem persists.
It's weird, since every other game from GOG seems to work. I haven't seen my problem in their threads, so no idea what the problem is.

I've been running BG with Tutu using the BG2 files from GoG without issue.
Are you running Tutu or any other mods?

I love the IE games, but I consider playing vanilla BG to be an act of extreme masochism. You should really just download Tutu, even if you need to do something else to get the game running on your computer.
Out beyond the hull, mucoid strings of non-baryonic matter streamed past like Christ's blood in the firmament.
So, it seems that all IE games are fucking up for me. In BG1 the scrolling won't work right even on max scroll speed. Now I've installed Planescape: Torment and the cursor shoots off to the right and will not come back to the character.
Nothing I've read on GOG is helping me. In the case of the cursor shooting off, I'd read that happens often with wireless mice and such, but I use wired exclusively. The "best" answer I saw was that it "might start working eventually, it did for me."
This is getting really fucking frustrating. Nearly have BG2 ready to install, but I wonder if it will work either. I can't play these games unless something changes. D:
EDIT: What the fuuuuuck. Now Torment is doing the scrolling 6s thing.

Check your right arrow key?
I know nethack produces long lines of sixes when the right arrow key is stuck, because the numpad 6 corresponds to the right arrow key for movement.

It's a brand new keyboard and has worked pretty well. I do need to replace my mouse, though. Perhaps that can help a little.

I was hanging out with a mix of friends and family, and we were playing Wii Sports Resort and that Kinect dancing game.
I don't drink, so scores were degrading inverse proportion to the laughs as they drank more.
I wouldn't mention this, except I reached new heights of geekery. On a game where I was subbing for someone on a frisbee throw (they were having a cigarette), I decided to give something a try and did the Rurouni Kenshin super-sword-draw stance and tried to do what I know of martial arts (took a karate class a few years ago for college), and...
...Threw the damn Frisbee about three times as far as it normally goes. Sailed it three-quarters across the course and got it within scoring range in one throw.
Luckily, none of them watch anime so all they did was go slack-jawed and go "NOT FAIR!" as the Frisbee kept going, and going and going...

A conversation I had a few hours today caused a few ideas to come together and I finally realized something.
Halo has very much in common with another very popular series. They have a similar dedicated and obsessed (and often obnoxious) fanbase, they both have a few good characters/ideas and a few they should be shot for...
So I feel comfortable in making this pronouncement.

See: Ideas they should be shot for. And get it right. The werewolf childrape thing isn't childrape, it's even worse. Imprinting on "who you're meant to be with" is downright creepy.Psychic Robot wrote:twilight has sparkle vampires and werewolf childrape
Halo has the kidnapping of children and the like as part of its backstory. I haven't played Halo: Reach but a couple of people who have told me the last two surviving Spartans at the end have a chance to bail out and go home after having done what they needed to, but decide to have a heroic last stand. Which is downright retarded.
I mainly base it on the fans and their attitudes towards the book/movie/game in question and how much they go for it (saw one interview with a Twilight fan who said she'd watched the movie about 80 times and read the book twice. I personally, I have seen Halo fanboys spend hours, day after day, playing the multiplayer and heard of a few more. Anecdotal, but I know they're out there).
It's not a -perfect- parallel, but it's close enough.

Welp, I'm screwed.
I got my little sister Animal Crossing on the Wii.
I'd forgotten just how addictive those games are. My resistance is crumbling and I'll be making a character soon.

Similarly, trying to hit home runs on Wii Sports home run contest is best done by not swinging like you have a bat. You swing from your shoulder to your opposite hip.Maxus wrote:I was hanging out with a mix of friends and family, and we were playing Wii Sports Resort and that Kinect dancing game.

Just popped in the first Fable game. I'm only starting out, but thus far it seems like more of a game than Fable 2 and 3. I can understand the fan's hatred of the newer games.
Also, I was given the option to pay 68 gold to be called "Arseface". So I did.

I haven't played the second one, but I can't get over the fact that the games removed all input in my character besides which spell do I want to spam and whether I want slow/strong or fast/weak attacks.Count Arioch the 28th wrote:Just popped in the first Fable game. the original fable is better than fable II/III which is pretty sad. molyneux has little in the way of writing a compelling story or characters. as a 2004 game, fable was high quality, even if it failed to deliver on its grand promises. however the lack of innovation and ingenuity in its successors is ridiculous, and with the release of such RPGs as dragon age and mass effect and oblivion, there is no excuse for the fable sequels to be such piss-poor efforts

Someone mind giving me some pointers on Fable? I want to emphasize will use, but thus far it seems that it kind of blows. (Right now I have 1 rank in magical power, and I have force push and lightning known, I'm very early in the game). The first time I tried to kill a hobbe with lightning it took all of my mana and the bastid was still standing. Is there an effective way to get good at magic and what is it, otherwise I'm going to concentrate on skill instead because bows seem to do the most damage thus far...

From my experience, you can't go straight Will, Strength or Skill. Even my most dedicated spellcasters, back then ended up as gish.
I never played a bowman, but here's what I suggest: Spam Slow Time, Multi Arrows (?) and Force Push when it gets too crowded. Lightning is nice because it stuns many foes, but does shit damage. Ghost Swords might be helpful too. Also, yes, boost your mana.
I fucking hate hobbes.

There's a mana shield type ability. I forget what it is, but if you cast it, you get surrounded by a magical barrier. When enemies hit the barrier, they don't interrupt your combo. This makes it very, VERY easy to rack up lots of XP.Count Arioch the 28th wrote:Someone mind giving me some pointers on Fable? While I had played as a "paladin" type character, the early game feels very stingy for XP, no matter who you are.
